Sonangol business focus is on the oil industry and in related areas of interest, however Sonangol has also diversified into other industries.

Our main business focus involves the research, exploration and production of oil and gas both in Angola's soil and off its Atlantic coast.

Sonangol has the exclusive rights to oil and gas exploration and production in Angola - both onshore and offshore. The process of negotiating and granting oil concessions, as well as aftermath control, is the responsibility of Sonangol Holding.

Sonangol Distribuidora is a subsidiary that retails refined products for automobiles, ships and vessels as well as for railroads and manufacturing engines. It also provides propane tanks for domestic use and has a network of gas and service stations.

For the international trading of Angolan crude, Sonangol relies on its subsidiary offices located in London, Houston and Singapore. Internal marketing is carried out by "Gabinete de Operações de Comercialização".

To facilitate and improve its performance in the oil industry, Sonangol has subsidiaries in areas that are strategic to the fulfillment of the company's goals such as:

Frequent traveling to platforms, refineries and international oil trading markets combined with the lack of regular airline schedules and/or direct flights resulted in the establishment of our airline company, SonAir. With SonAir we provide national and international (Houston, USA and Malabo, Equatorial Guinea) routes to our clients.

Transportation of crude and its derivatives is ensured by SonaShip. This subsidiary has harbors in national ports as well as in other African countries such as South Africa, Cape Verde, Cameroon, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ivory Coast and Sao Tome and Principe.

Logistics are one of the key areas in the oil industry. To better focus in this area, Sonangol established Logistica whose mission is the warehousing and distribution of oil derivatives.

Sonangol is also a shareholder in companies not directly related to the oil industry.

Banking - Sonangol is a shareholder in BAI (African Bank of Investments) with 17.5% and at BCI (Bank for Marketing and Industry) with 1.04%.

Food Retail and Catering - as a shareholder in Sodispal (51% of stocks) and in WAPO Angola (35% of stocks) Sonangol is involved in food retail, catering and agriculture.

Civil Engineering - To participate in the much needed reconstruction of the country, Sonangol is a shareholder in Bricomil (12.5% of stocks).
