Block 15 is located in the lower Congo's basin which is south of the Zaire river. Being offshore and in deep waters the depth for this Block varies between 400-1,500 meters.

Exploration activities on this Block began in September 1994 and ended in August 2003 with an end result of 22 drilled wells, two of which were dry wells. A total of 17 commercial discoveries will be explored by the contractor who has Esso Angola as the operator and BP AGIP and Statoil as partners.
