On December 13, 2005, Sonangol EP as the sole concessionaire for exploration and production rights of hydrocarbon resources in Angola launched a public bid for oil concessions in the following oil blocks:
- Blocks 1, 5 and 6 (located in shallow waters)
- Remaining areas of Blocks 15, 17 and 18 (located in deep waters)
- Block 26 (also located in deep waters)
All proposals were opened in a public ceremony held on April 3, 2006. And the various PSA contracts, upon their approval on September 27, 2006 by the Council of Ministries, were signed throughout November 1st-3rd, 2006.
